Ormai chi mi conosce lo sa… uno dei pochi motivi per cui accendo la televisione è Top Gear, il che è sorprendente per uno come me, al quale le auto non interessano nemmeno. Tuttavia è quel loro umorismo graffiante, così tipicamente inglese, che riesce a strapparmi un ghigno ogni volta che vedo Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond e James May. Quest’ultimo sempra un po’ lo sfigato della situazione, il meno sveglio della compagnia, ma anche lui è capace di raggiungere vette di sarcasmo squisite. Un esempio che non traduco perchè non riuscirei mai a rendere il senso come si deve:
Richard Hammond: [referring to Jeremy being stopped for speeding in France] How fast, were you going when you were stopped?
Jeremy Clarkson: I strayed slightly over the speed limit there and was caught and they dealt with me efficiently and courteously, as befits a civilised nation which is of course what France is.
James May: No: France is a country you have to drive through to get to Italy, that’s all it’s for. Right?
Richard Hammond: He’s not going to like it.
Jeremy Clarkson: It’s look, the fact of the matter is: they’ve got better cheese; they’ve got better wine…
James May: No they haven’t!
Jeremy Clarkson: They have!
James May: They haven’t got better cheese: they are a bunch of treacherous, lamb-burning work-shy peasants.
Purtroppo il video che su Youtube riproponeva questo momento è stato rimosso, ma per gli interessati si tratta dell’ottavo episodio della quinta stagione

Simpatici? Sono geniali!
Cosa non pagherei per avere un lessico e un accento all’altezza di Clarkson 
bè basta essere inglese Ema!!
